The Canopy Piloting (CP) competition consists of three events - Distance, Speed, and Zone Accuracy. In the Speed event, competitors fly their canopies through a 70-meter long course as fast as possible. In the Distance event, competitors fly their canopies as far as possible, after navigating through a 50-meter course and "dragging" or touching the course's water surface. In the Zone Accuracy event, competitors fly their canopies through, dragging through as much of the course as possible, and continue to land precisely within a landing zone.
For FAI World Championships, the US Parachute Team can send up to 8 individual competitors.
